6 Aug 2025 Nairobi (Kenya) The EastAfrican. Kenya Seed Company’s Rwandan subsidiary is on the verge of collapse due to longstanding unpaid debts owed by the Rwandan government;

5 Aug 2025 Kigali (Rwanda) News24. Rwanda signs an agreement with the United States (US) to accept up to 250 migrants deported from the US, with the deal finalised in June 2025 in Kigali and an initial list of ten individuals already under review;

5 Aug 2025 Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) Addis Standard. National carrier Ethiopian Airlines reports $7.6 billion in revenue for the 2024/2025 fiscal year, but confirms that its bank account in Eritrea remains frozen and it is unable to recover seized funds;

5 Aug 2025 Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) Borkena. Ethiopia’s new ambassador to SomaliaSuleiman Dedefo, officially presents his credentials to Somalia’s President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, signalling a strengthening of relations between the two countries;

5 Aug 2025 Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) The Citizen. Fuel prices fall for the third consecutive month, with petrol now sold at TSh 2,843 per litre ($1.11), diesel at TSh 2,777($1.08), and kerosene at TSh 2,768 ($1.08), providing relief to consumers at the pump;

5 Aug 2025 Kampala (Uganda) Monitor. Chaos breaks out during youth elections in Mukono District after the venue was abruptly shifted from municipal offices to an army barracks with opposition party National Unity Platform candidates, including member of parliament (MP) Betty Nambooze, barred from accessing the polling station;

5 Aug 2025 Gitega (Burundi) The EastAfrican. United States (US) imposes a visa ban on certain Burundian individuals in response to concerns over governance and political issues in the country;

5 Aug 2025 Kigali (Rwanda) Kigali Today. Bank of Kigali and Rwanda Development Bank jointly commit $52m in loans to expand the Bugesera Special Economic Zone, a key industrial park aimed at boosting Rwanda’s industrial transformation by 2050;

5 Aug 2025 Kigali (Rwanda) Kigali Today. The Rwanda National Police spokesperson, Boniface Rutikanga, assures full security for people and property at Expo 2025 in Kigali;

4 Aug 2025 Djibouti (Djibouti) The Tanzania Times. Djibouti becomes the first country in Africa to adopt a Contingent Emergency Response Project through the World Bank, aligning its crisis preparedness efforts with international best practices;

4 Aug 2025 Kinshasa (DRC) SABC. DRC and Rwanda sign a new economic cooperation deal as part of the recently signed peace deal, agreeing to work together on key sectors like mining, infrastructure, tourism, and public health;

4 Aug 2025 Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) Borkena. A boat carrying 154 Ethiopian migrants capsizes off the coast of Yemen, resulting in at least 68 deaths and 74 missing, with only 12 survivors rescued so far;

4 Aug 2025 Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) The Citizen. Prime minister Kassim Majaliwa warns that corruption remains a significant threat to development across Southern African Development Community countries and emphasises the need for stronger regional cooperation and institutional reforms to combat graft effectively;

4 Aug 2025 Kampala (Uganda) Monitor. Local residents report that trade at the Bunagana Border between Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) remains stalled despite its official reopening on 10 July;

3 Aug 2025 Nairobi (Kenya) Daily Nation. Opposition coalition Azimio la Umoja says that President William Ruto’s recent meeting with former president Uhuru Kenyatta is a strategic move to consolidate public support;

2 Aug 2025 Asmara (Eritrea) APA News. United States (US) President Donald Trump reverses the former US administration’s sanctions-driven policy toward Eritrea, pledging to rebuild a “respectful and productive” relationship;

2 Aug 2025 Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) BorkenaNational Bank of Ethiopia (central bank) accuses four United States (US)-based money transfer agents – Shgey Money TransferAdulis Money TransferRamada Pay (Kaah) and TAAL Money Transfer – of operating illegally and engaging in money laundering and financing illegal activities using funds from the Ethiopian diaspora;

31 Jul 2025 Kinshasa (DRC) La Prosperite. State portfolio minister, Jean-Lucien Bussa, holds a strategic meeting with Equity Group executives to strengthen economic integration between state-owned enterprises and Equity BCDC, the only commercial bank with government shareholding;

31 Jul 2025 Djibouti (Djibouti) BNA. Somalia and Djibouti sign a status of forces agreement to enhance defence and security cooperation between the two countries;
