Tanzania holds elections on 29th October which are likely to be a foregone conclusion given that the two main Opposition Parties have been banned from the Presidential election and in one case face a complete ban. The economy is performing well with inflation under control, a stable currency and the Bank of Tanzania maintaining its base rate at 5.75%.

While it seemed clear that President Hassan would get her elected mandate, the hardline approach does not seem necessary. Economically the country is progressing well.
