14 Oct 2025 Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) Reuters. Ethiopia’s debt restructuring talks with bondholders reaches an impasse due to disagreements over key terms, nearly two years after the country defaulted on its $1 billion international bond in late 2023;

13 Oct 2025 Nairobi (Kenya) Reuters. Parliament passes the Virtual Asset Service Providers Bill to regulate cryptocurrencies and other digital assets, aiming to attract investment by providing clear legal guidelines;

13 Oct 2025 Nairobi (Kenya) Daily Nation. Opposition leaders, including Kalonzo Musyoka and former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua, accuse the government of conspiring with foreign actors to rig the 2027 election;

Diaspora members in the United Kingdom (UK) stage a major protest rejecting the Ethiopian National Dialogue Commission’s process, citing ongoing violence in the Amhara Region and demanding justice and the release of detained leaders before any national dialogue can be considered legitimate;

9 Oct 2025 Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) BBC. Ethiopia accuses Eritrea of preparing for war in coordination with a hardline faction of the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF), citing support for armed groups in Ethiopia’s Amhara region;

9 Oct 2025 Nairobi (Kenya) Serrari Group. Kenya and Burundi renew their commitment to deepen economic cooperation during the 24th Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) Summit in Nairobi;

8 Oct 2025 Djibouti (Djibouti) Dawan Africa. Djibouti is hosting the 2025 East African Standby Forces (EASF) maritime exercise, named Bahari Salama, from 8 – 17 October;
