28 Oct 2025 Kigali (Rwanda) Hiiraan. Somalia and Rwanda sign a General Cooperation Agreement to strengthen diplomatic relations and expand collaboration in sectors including justice, education, agriculture, ICT, trade and defence;

28 Oct 2025 Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) Bloomberg. Prime minister Abiy Ahmed requests international mediation from the African Union, European Union, United States, Russia and China to ease rising tensions with Eritrea over Ethiopia’s access to the sea, emphasising that the country does not intend to go to war;

28 Oct 2025 Kinshasa (DRC) La Prosperite. The DRC’s proposed ‘minerals for security’ deal with the United States continues stalling amid ongoing conflict and Rwanda’s military presence;

28 Oct 2025 Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) The Citizen. Trading on the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSE) slows as investors adopted a cautious, wait-and-see approach ahead of the 29 October general election;

28 Oct 2025 Kampala (Uganda) Monitor. Uganda sees a recent surge in machete gang attacks across the Kampala Metropolitan Area, resulting in one death, three injuries, and significant property theft;

27 Oct 2025 Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) Borkena. The Global Amhara Coalition (GAC) issues an urgent appeal to the international community regarding humanitarian violations in Amhara Region, citing drone and air strikes, extrajudicial killings, mass detentions, sexual violence and destruction of civilian infrastructure;

27 Oct 2025 Nairobi (Kenya) Daily Nation. Opposition Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party announces it will remain part of President William Ruto’s broad-based government until 2027;

27 Oct 2025 Nairobi (Kenya) ReutersUnited States vice president JD Vance confirms he will visit Kenya from 24 to 27 November following his attendance at the G20 summit in South Africa;

27 Oct 2025 Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) Mail&Guardian. Political parties, except the ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM), hold their final presidential campaign rallies ahead of the 29 October general election;

26 Oct 2025 Djibouti (Djibouti) The Peninsula. Foreing minister Abdoulkader Houssein Omar and his Qatari counterpart Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi sign two memoranda of understanding establish a joint cooperation committee and hold political consultations on matters of mutual interest;

26 Oct 2025 Djibouti (Djibouti) Al Jazeera. Parliament votes to remove the constitutional age limit for presidential candidates, allowing President Ismail Omar Guelleh – age 77 – to seek a sixth term in the April 2026 elections;

26 Oct 2025 Kampala (Uganda) Monitor. Opposition party Democratic Front president Mathias Mpuuga outlines his party’s plans of the 2026 general elections, calling for national renewal and redefinition of the country’s political future;

25 Oct 2025 Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) The Citizen. Tanzanian media leaders, including TBC director general Ayub Rioba and ITV CEO Joyce Mhavill, pledge neutrality and professionalism ahead of the general election on 29 October, emphasising their role in promoting peace and trust during a tense political period;

23 Oct 2025 Kampala (Uganda) Monitor. The Electoral Commission (EC) concludes the two-day nomination process for parliamentary candidates ahead of the 2026 general election, clearing more than 500 candidates;
