24 Feb 2026 Kinshasa (DRC) Reuters. Officials report an army drone strike killed the M23 rebel group’s military spokesperson, Willy Ngoma, near the strategic Rubaya coltan mine in North Kivu Province, amid ongoing clashes and despite several ceasefire efforts;

24 Feb 2026 Uvira (DRC) AA. United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO) and the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR) deploy a joint exploratory team to Uvira (South Kivu Province) to assess security, political and logistical conditions ahead of implementing a ceasefire monitoring mechanism;

24 Feb 2026 Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) New Arab. A newly revealed, Sudan-linked Rapid Support Forces (RSF) training camp in Ethiopia’s Benishangul-Gumuz Region, reportedly funded and supported by the United Arab Emirates (UAE), signals direct Ethiopian involvement in Sudan’s civil war, allowing up to 10,000 fighters to train near the border;

National treasury principal secretary (PS) Chris Kiptoo says the economy is projected to grow by 5.3% in 2026, up from an estimated 5% in 2025, driven by higher agricultural productivity, expansion in the services sector, and increased remittances from the diaspora;
