16 Jun 2026 Kigali (Rwanda) Kigali Today. National Institute of Statistics reports that the economy grew by 10% year-on-year in the first quarter (Q1) of 2026, with GDP rising to RWF 6.35 trillion ($4.5 billion) from RWF 5.28 trillion ($3.7 billion) in Q1 2025, driven by strong growth in industry, agriculture, and services;

16 Jun 2026 Kinshasa (DRC) Reuters. The Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention warns that the current Ebola outbreak in the DRC could become the worst ever if not contained quickly;

16 Jun 2026 Nairobi (Kenya) Business Daily Africa. The World Bank reportedly rejects Kenya’s request for an emergency loan, dealing a blow to the country’s fiscal management efforts;

16 Jun 2026 Antananarivo (Madagascar) L’Express. Government issues two new decrees that significantly increase state control over strategic mining projects, giving the government authority to select projects, negotiate mining agreements, require local processing and environmental commitments, and take at least a 10% stake in certain strategic minerals such as gold and uranium;

16 Jun 2026 Kigali (Rwanda) Kigali Today. International Monetary Fund (IMF) projections indicate Rwanda is expected to be among the 15 fastest-growing economies in the world in 2026, with GDP growth forecast at 7.2%, despite a slight downward revision from an earlier estimate of just over 7.5%;

15 Jun 2026 Gitega (Burundi) Burundi Times. The African Union (AU) is advancing a reform agenda as it prepares for an upcoming summit in Burundi, amid a growing number of political and security crises across the continent;

15 Jun 2026 Kinshasa (DRC) La Prosperite. During his official visit to Egypt, President Félix Tshisekedi tours the New Administrative Capital (NAC), expressing interest in accelerating the expansion and management of Kinshasa based on the NAC model;

15 Jun 2026 Antananarivo (Madagascar) L’Express. At a Russian embassy reception, officials celebrate a resurgence in bilateral relations between Madagascar and Russia, noting significant diplomatic momentum following high-level visits earlier this year;

15 Jun 2026 Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) The Citizen. Tanzania and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) sign an agreement to strengthen transport cooperation and enhance cargo transport on Lake Tanganyika;

13 Jun 2026 Gitega (Burundi) Times Live. Parliament votes to increase government spending by 30% in the next fiscal year, setting the budget at BIF 7.02 trillion ($2.34 billion), with growth forecasts of 5.5%;

13 Jun 2026 Kinshasa (DRC) Al Jazeera. Political groups clash during a rally against a proposed law that could see President Felix Tshisekedi run for a third-term in office;

13 Jun 2026 Mogadishu (Somalia) Horseed MediaSomalia’s National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) intercepts a cache of over 100 chemical containers buried by al-Shabaab militants in the Lower Shabelle Region;

13 Jun 2026 Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) The Citizen. A revised version of a United States (US) bill that seeks to reassess ties with Tanzania has removed proposed cuts to security assistance and military cooperation, but retains restrictions on development finance and other measures;

13 Jun 2026 Kampala (Uganda) Monitor. Uganda is preparing to deploy medical personnel to the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) to help combat an ongoing Ebola outbreak;

11 Jun 2026 Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) The Citizen. Finance minister Khamis Mussa Omar presents a TSh 62.3 trillion ($23.73 billion) national budget for the upcoming fiscal year despite prevailing economic risks;

11 Jun 2026 Kampala (Uganda) Monitor. Leader of the opposition in parliament, Joel Ssenyonyi, presents an alternative budget of Shs 71.4 trillion ($19.18 billion) themed around safeguarding lives, livelihoods and institutions, a counterproposal to the official government budget of Shs 84.3 trillion ($22.65 billion) that was passed for the 2026/27 financial year;
