23 Jun 2026 Kinshasa (DRC) Reuters. The United States (US) provides doses of an experimental antibody drug from US-based Mapp Biopharmaceutical for upcoming clinical trials to combat the widening Ebola outbreak in the DRC;

23 Jun 2026 Nairobi (Kenya) Reuters. Government signs a $1.2 billion agreement with China Road and Bridge Corporation to expand Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi;

23 Jun 2026 Antananarivo (Madagascar) L’Express. The European Union (EU) launches two public governance projects in Madagascar under its Global Gateway initiative, totalling over MGA 80 billion ($19m) to strengthen public finance transparency and modernise administration;

23 Jun 2026 Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) The Citizen. Communication, information technology and innovation minister, Mudrick Soraga signs a 20-year public-private partnership agreement with local telecommunications provider Yas Fibre worth TSh 300 billion ($114.5m) to expand broadband infrastructure across Tanzania and Zanzibar;

23 Jun 2026 Kampala (Uganda) Monitor. Uganda’s 16-day streak without an Ebola transmission has ended following the confirmation of a new infection, raising the cumulative count to 20 cases of the Bundibugyo strain;

22 Jun 2026 Kinshasa (DRC) UN News. As Ebola cases surpass 1,000 in the DRC, United Nations (UN) agencies warn that nearly three million children are at risk, with United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) seeking $70.7m for a comprehensive humanitarian response;

22 Jun 2026 Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) Addis StandardDjibouti‘s energy ministry and Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC) discuss expanding infrastructure at the Doraleh Oil Terminal to improve storage and transport capacity for petroleum products set to be transported to Ethiopia;

22 Jun 2026 Nanyuki (Kenya) BBC. High court finds health minister Aden Duale guilty of contempt of court after defying a high court order to halt the construction of a controversial, United States (US)-funded Ebola isolation facility at a military base in Nanyuki;

22 Jun 2026 Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) The Citizen. Minerals minister Anthony Mavunde represents the government at Russia Day celebrations at the Russian Cultural Centre in Dar es Salaam as the government continues deepening ties with Russia;

22 Jun 2026 Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) Monitor. Prime minister Abiy Ahmed’s Prosperity Party secures 438 of the 501 contested seats in the 1 June parliamentary and regional elections against a fragmented opposition, with Abiy set to be sworn in for his third term;

22 Jun 2026 Djibouti (Djibouti) Financial Afrik. The International Islamic Trade Finance Corporation (ITFC) signs a $750m framework agreement with Djibouti to finance and support trade from 2026 to 2029, aiming to boost crucial economic sectors including energy, food security, health and private sector trade financing, extending the ITFC’s long-term financial commitment to the country;

22 Jun 2026 Gitega (Burundi) Breaking Burundi. Civil society organisations Observatoire de lutte contre la corruption et les malversations économiques (OLUCOME) and PARCEM demand investigations and better prevention systems following a series of unexplained market fires, including a recent blaze that devastated the Jabe timber market in Bujumbura;

22 Jun 2026 Djibouti (Djibouti) APA News. World Bank approves an additional $45m to support the ongoing modernisation of the Djibouti-Addis Ababa economic corridor;

21 Jun 2026 Asmara (Eritrea) APA News. European Union (EU) calls for an investigation, in line with Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights recommendations, into human rights violations the Eritrean government allegedly committed during and after the Tigray War in Ethiopia;

21 Jun 2026 Asmara (Eritrea) Jurist. United Nations special rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Eritrea, Mohamed Abdelsalam Babiker, warns that human rights in the country are continuing to deteriorate, citing the ongoing use of enforced disappearances, indefinite military conscription, torture, and the government’s refusal to cooperate with international organisations to address these issues;

20 Jun 2026 Antananarivo (Madagascar) L’Express. Foreign minister Alice N’Diaye meets with her Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov in Moscow to discuss strengthening bilateral ties and coordination within the United Nations (UN);

20 Jun 2026 Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) The Citizen. President Samia Suluhu Hassan hosts Namibia’s President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah in a ceremonial reception during her state visit to chart a new economic frontier between the two nations;

18 Jun 2026 Kinshasa (DRC) Reuters. Health minister Samuel-Roger Kamba states that the Ebola outbreak in eastern DRC is overwhelming response systems, with severe shortages of staff, ambulances, protective equipment and basic supplies like construction materials for isolation units;

18 Jun 2026 Nairobi (Kenya) Daily Nation. An Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission investigation reveals that Treasury officials allegedly stole Sh1.5 billion ($11.58m) from a United Nations (UN) project;

18 Jun 2026 Nairobi (Kenya) Monitor. President William Ruto announces that Kenya and the United States (US) are close to finalising a critical minerals agreement aimed at strengthening cooperation in the extraction, processing and supply of strategic minerals;

18 Jun 2026 Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) The CitizenBank of Africa Tanzania expresses support for the government’s 2026/27 national budget, indicating that the budget’s priorities are aligned with efforts to stimulate economic growth, strengthen the business environment and expand access to financing;

17 Jun 2026 Kigali (Rwanda) All Africa. Despite United States (US)-brokered peace accords aimed at resolving conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) through a “peace for minerals” framework, Rwandan-backed M23 rebels continue to advance, seize territory and forcibly recruit Congolese citizens;
