18 Aug 2026 Kinshasa (DRC) La Prosperite. President Félix Tshisekedi visits Gabon’s Nkok Special Economic Zone to explore cooperation on sustainable forest management and the industrial processing of natural resources;

18 Aug 2026 Kigali (Rwanda) Kigali Today. Prime minister Justin Nsengiyumva urges African countries to strengthen institutions capable of attracting investment in water, sanitation and hygiene, arguing that infrastructure alone is insufficient without effective management and sustainable service delivery;

18 Aug 2026 Kigali (Rwanda) NTV Uganda. Urban development minister Margaret Muhanga proposes relocating Uganda’s capital from Kampala to Nakasongola to address congestion and infrastructure pressures while creating a strategically located, master-planned administrative centre;

17 Aug 2026 Kinshasa (DRC) La Prosperite. The extra-parliamentary opposition group C218 argues that the DRC could achieve a trade surplus with China and the United States by exploiting its agricultural and mineral resources, particularly considering import exemptions for Congolese products;

17 Aug 2026 Djibouti (Djibouti) La Nation. Djibouti and the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) agree to strengthen cooperation on labour migration, professional mobility, employment, skills development and worker protection;

Burkina Faso and Burundi sign fourteen cooperation agreements covering a broad range of sectors including security, agriculture and livestock, civil protection and air services during the inaugural session of their Joint Cooperation Commission in Bujumbura;

14 Aug 2026 Djibouti (Djibouti) Al Jazeera. Saudi Arabia and 13 other countries launch a maritime defence alliance to protect freedom of navigation through the Bab al-Mandeb Strait, Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, with plans for intelligence sharing, joint exercises and naval operations;

13 Aug 2026 Kinshasa (DRC) Al JazeeraAfrica Centres for Disease Control and Prevention confirms the Ebola outbreak has reached a sixth province, Bas-Uele, driven by the rare Bundibugyo virus for which there are no approved vaccines or treatments;
