7 Mar 2023 Asmara (Eritrea) Africanews. The United Nations says that the human rights situation in Eritrea remains dire and shows no sign of improvement in the short term, citing cases of torture and enforced disappearances;

7 Mar 2023 Kigali (Rwanda) Reuters. United Kingdom (UK) prime minister Rishi Sunak and Rwanda’s President Paul Kagame discuss the UK-Rwanda migration partnership and the need to disrupt the activities of smugglers while addressing humanitarian concerns;

7 Mar 2023 Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) The Citizen. President Samia Suluhu Hassan pledges her support in ensuring that the 5th Assembly fulfils its mandate of furthering the East African Community (EAC) integration agenda in a discussion attended by, among others, foreign affairs and East African cooperation minister Stergomena Tax;

5 Mar 2023 Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) Borkena. Ethiopia news service Hiber Radio reports that Prosperity Party officials in Gurage Zone were arrested for allegedly denouncing the administrative clustering programme that the ruling party is implementing in the South Region;

5 Mar 2023 Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) The Citizen. President Samia Suluhu Hassan hands over a land ownership deed to East African Community (EAC) secretary general Peter Mathuki in a gesture of hospitality to the regional bodies based in Arusha;

2 Mar 2023 Nairobi (Kenya) The Citizen. Kenyan firms turn to Tanzania and other neighbouring countries for United States dollars as commercial banks face a shortage with foreign exchange reserves dropping to a near 10-year low, further breaching the critical level of four months’ import cover in the wake of huge foreign debt repayments;

1 Mar 2023 Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) The CitizenUnited States-based automotive, artificial intelligence and clean energy company Tesla signs an agreement in terms of which it will purchase anode active material (AAM) from Tanzania;

1 Mar 2023 Kinshasa (DRC) La Prosperite. President Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo takes part in the 52nd session of the United Nations Human Rights Council held in Geneva (Switzerland);
