20 Jun 2023 Kinshasa (DRC) La Prosperite. China-based Huawei mining team’s technical director, Xu Jun, participates in the opening ceremony of DRC Mining Week in Lubumbashi (Haut Katanga), focusing on the theme “Recognising the triumphs and victories of the mining industry in the DRC“;

20 Jun 2023 Victoria (Seychelles) Seychelles News Agency. Investors are being called upon to submit their concept proposals for the Victoria Waterfront development project as the Seychelles Investment Board (SIB) launches the expression of interest for the project;

20 Jun 2023 Mogadishu (Somalia) Swissinfo. Armed factions in Somalia’s semi-autonomous state of Puntland agree on a ceasefire a day after at least 26 people were killed and 30 injured in clashes over proposed changes to the region’s voting system;

20 Jun 2023 Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) The CitizenVodacom Tanzania managing director Philip Besiimire, speaking at Mwananchi Thought Leadership Forum on “Digital Transformation for a Sustainable and Inclusive Future”, says the government and other players need to put more effort into ensuring that internet penetration and use increase in order to keep up with the speed of technology and achieve a digital economy by 2025;

18 Jun 2023 Nairobi (Kenya) EURACTIV. Trade minister Moses Kuria and the European Union (EU) announce an Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) that will give Kenya tariff-free access to the EU, its largest market where it sends roughly one-fifth of all its exports;

18 Jun 2023 Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) The Citizen. President Samia Suluhu Hassan says her government is assessing the performance of government corporations, warning that non-performing parastatals face deregistration;

16 Jun 2023 Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) Borkena. Joint council of Ethiopian political parties discloses concern over the country’s peace and security situation, including internal conflicts, political instability, killings of innocent citizens, displacements, corruption, nepotism, incarceration, misappropriation of resources, security threats to people, lack of freedom of religious institutions, cost of living and detention;

15 Jun 2023 Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) The Citizen. The government announces the completion of procedures for purchases of gold through the Bank of Tanzania (BoT) (central bank) in order to establish a National Gold Reserve;

14 Jun 2023 Nairobi (Kenya) KBC. Environment principal secretary Eng Festus Ng’eno unveils the 2023-2027 National Cooling Action Plan for Kenya which aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from refrigeration appliances by enhancing the availability and accessibility of sustainable cooling solutions;

14 Jun 2023 Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) The CitizenAir France launches direct flights from Paris to Dar es Salaam after a 28-year absence, making it the 31st route in sub-Saharan Africa;
