23 Sep 2025 Kigali (Rwanda) Kigali Today. Foreign affairs minister Olivier Nduhungirehe announces that Rwanda and Hungary signed a Cooperation Agreement to strengthen bilateral relations, building on existing collaboration in diplomacy, education, water management and investment;

23 Sep 2025 Kinshasa (DRC) Mining Weekly. President Felix Tshisekedi says the United States (US)-mediated peace deal with Rwanda has not ended fighting in eastern DRC, emphasising that while DRC seeks strategic partnerships to develop its mining, infrastructure, and energy sectors, it will not “auction” its mineral resources, and progress depends on Rwanda halting support for the M23 rebels;

23 Sep 2025 Kigali (Rwanda) Kigali Today. President Paul Kagame arrives in Egypt for a working visit and is received by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi to discuss Rwanda’s activities in the Central African Republic and security in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC);

23 Sep 2025 Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) The Citizen. Government and private sector are investing in specialised hospitals, modern equipment and skilled professionals to reduce reliance on overseas and is working to establish itself as a leading hub for medical tourism in Africa, aiming to attract patients from across the region seeking affordable and quality healthcare;

22 Sep 2025 Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) Borkena. Five major opposition parties, including Enat PartyEthiopian People’s Revolutionary Party and the Amhara Ghionawi Movement, announce the forming of the Coalition for Ethiopian Unity (CEU), aiming to strengthen collaborative advocacy efforts;

22 Sep 2025 Nairobi (Kenya) Daily Nation. Opposition leader Raila Odinga states there is no deal regarding President William Ruto’s potential 2027 re-election, despite some opposition party Orange Democratic Movement officials publicly endorsing Ruto;

22 Sep 2025 Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) The Citizen. The Bank of Tanzania (central bank) completes its study on introducing a digital currency and is now awaiting a government directive on the next steps;

21 Sep 2025 Nairobi (Kenya) Daily NationInsurance Regulatory Authority states that Kenya’s insurance sector is facing a surge in fraudulent claims, with the motor vehicle segment being the hardest hit;

21 Sep 2025 Kinshasa (DRC) Actualite. DRC’s mineral regulator, Autorité de Régulation et de Contrôle des Marchés des Substances Minérales Stratégiques (ARECOMS), extends the suspension of cobalt exports until 15 October;

18 Sep 2025 Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) The CitizenAlliance for Financial Inclusion awards the Bank of Tanzania (central bank) the Espenilla Jr. Financial Inclusion Innovation Award, recognising its innovations in digital financial inclusion;
