25 Jun 2025 Asmara (Eritrea) Reuters. Eritrea is seeking to terminate the mandate of United Nations special rapporteur, Mohamed Abdelsalam Babiker, who is tasked with investigating human rights abuses in the country;

25 Jun 2025 Nairobi (Kenya) Nation. Protestors gather today to mark the one-year anniversary of the protests against the Finance Bill in 2024, with reports of a high police presence in the CBD;

24 Jun 2025 Kinshasa (DRC) Mining Technology. Australia-headquartered AVZ Minerals resumes arbitration proceedings against DRC over a dispute concerning its majority stake and legal rights to the Manono lithium project;

24 Jun 2025 Nairobi (Kenya) Daily Nation. National treasury indicates that 14 state departments and agencies, including the education ministry, health ministry and transport and infrastructure ministry, failed to spend their allocated budgets on projects over an 11-month period, raising concerns about inefficiency and delays in public service delivery;

23 Jun 2025 Kinshasa (DRC) La Prosperite. Finance minister Doudou Fwamba signs a $1.9 billion financing agreement with the World Bank to support five strategic projects, including flood resilience, transport infrastructure, the Grand Inga III hydroelectric project, digital transformation, and major budgetary reforms;

23 Jun 2025 Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) Borkena. President Taye Atske Selassie leads a delegation to Luanda (Angola) to participate in the United StatesAfrica Business Summit;

23 Jun 2025 Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) The Citizen. Agriculture ministry reports that it is advancing the sector through ambitious initiatives like the Agricultural Sector Development Programme, the Agricultural Master Plan 2050, and the Vision 2030 Agenda, focusing on boosting productivity and creating jobs, especially for youth and women;

Foreign affairs minister Albert Shingiro reports that Burundi and Rwanda have reignited parliamentary diplomacy, leveraging legislative channels and inter-parliamentary networks to de-escalate tensions rooted in mutual accusations concerning rebel support and border closures;

22 Jun 2025 Kinshasa (DRC) Club of Mozambique. DRC and Rwanda sign a draft peace agreement, with the deal including provisions for disarmament, disengagement of armed groups, and a joint security mechanism;

22 Jun 2025 Kampala (Uganda) Monitor. The Uganda Human Rights Commission warns of rising political violence ahead of the 2026 elections, citing ongoing crackdowns on opposition supporters and the lasting trauma faced by victims of past abuses;

21 Jun 2025 Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) Borkena. Ethiopia and Denmark sign a $238.4m development agreement for 2025-2029, focused on sectors such as water, electricity, agriculture, social cohesion, and social safety nets;

19 Jun 2025 Kinshasa (DRC) Senenews. DRC and Rwanda are expected to formally sign a United States (US)– and Qatar-mediated peace agreement on 27 June in the US following the initialing of a draft accord on 18 June;

19 Jun 2025 Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) Borkena. Opposition Ethiopian People’s Revolutionary Party walks out of a scheduled meeting with prime minister Abiy Ahmed, protesting what it claims is discriminatory treatment and the forced participation in tours of government urban projects they criticise as harmful and ineffective;

19 Jun 2025 Kigali (RwandaClub of Mozambique. Rwanda and Democratic Republic Congo (DRC) initiate a draft peace agreement aimed at ending ongoing conflict in eastern Congo, with a formal signing expected on 27 June;

19 Jun 2025 Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) The Citizen. Business and trade department country director Andrew Mahiga announces that the United Kingdom (UK) is significantly increasing its support for Tanzania’s energy transition, especially in renewables;
