30 Jul 2025 Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) The Citizen. National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) reports that in the first five months of 2025, Tanzania received 794,102 international tourists, of which 93,112 were from Kenya and 65,874 from Burundi, making them the leading sources of international arrivals to Tanzania;

29 Jul 2025 Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) BorkenaUnited States Africa Command (AFRICOM) leaders accuse Russia and China of conducting disinformation campaigns in Ethiopia and other countries in Africa aimed at undermining US actions on the continent;

29 Jul 2025 Asmara (Eritrea) Shabait. President Isaias Afwerki meets with a high-level Italian delegation led by Italy’s agriculture minister Francesco Lollobrigida and deputy foreign minister Edmondo Cirielli to discuss enhancing bilateral cooperation;

28 Jul 2025 Mekelle (Ethiopia) Borkena. A second peace delegation takes place to engage with Tigray’s Interim Administration and other stakeholders, aiming to de-escalate tensions between the federal government and the opposition Tigray People’s Liberation Front;

28 Jul 2025 Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) The Citizen. The ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) is set to shortlist contenders for upcoming local general elections, with President Samia Suluhu Hassan chairing the central committee meeting;

28 Jul 2025 Kampala (Uganda) Monitor. Government, including presidential advisor Odrek Rwabwogo, hold consultations on its suspended automated traffic fines system following public concerns and backlash from motorists and civil society groups;

27 Jul 2025 Gitega (Burundi) Eastleigh Voice. The ruling Conseil National Pour la Défense de la Démocratie – Forces pour la Défense de la Démocratie (CNDD-FDD) wins all ten contested seats in the 23 July senatorial elections, securing an overwhelming majority;

27 Jul 2025 Djibouti (Djibouti) BNA. Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud arrives in Djibouti for an official visit to strengthen bilateral relations;

27 Jul 2025 Kinshasa (DRC) Reuters. Islamic State-affiliated Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) kill 38 people in an attack on a church in Komanda (Ituri Province);

27 Jul 2025 Kigali (Rwanda) Business Insider Africa. Tanzania and Rwanda strengthen their bilateral cooperation by signing agreements focused on enhancing air connectivity, railway development and promoting Kiswahili, formalised during the 16th Joint Permanent Commission meeting in Kigali;

27 Jul 2025 Kampala (Uganda) Monitor. A London-based (United Kingdom) international arbitration tribunal clears Uganda of any wrongdoing in a $2.3 billion dispute brough by the Rift Valley Railways (RVR) investors against the Ugandan and Kenyan governments;

26 Jul 2025 Kinshasa (DRC) La Prosperite. China’s embassy in the DRC hosts a reception in Kinshasa highlighting the long-standing mutual support between China and the DRC;

26 Jul 2025 Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) Borkena. Government is reportedly moving heavy weaponry and troops toward the Eritrean border near the port city of Assab amid rising tensions between the two countries;

26 Jul 2025 Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) The Citizen. The Independent National Electoral Commission sets the election day for 29 October;

24 Jul 2025 Asmara (Eritrea) Aawsat. Saudi Arabia’s foreign minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan holds a phone call with Eritrea’s foreign minister Osman Ali Saleh to review bilateral relations and discuss regional and international issues of mutual interest;

24 Jul 2025 Kigali (Rwanda) Reuters. President Paul Kagame appoints National Bank of Rwanda (central bank) deputy governor and former eEducation ministry official, Justin Nsengiyumva, as prime minister after dismissing Edouard Ngirente for unknown reasons;

24 Jul 2025 Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) The Citizen. Ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) dismisses claims that President Samia Suluhu Hassan refused to leave a meeting during which the nomination process for presidential candidates took place, labelling the reports as baseless and malicious propaganda;

24 Jul 2025 Kampala (Uganda) Monitor. Local media reports that Onesmus Twinamatsiko, who won a parliamentary primary election under the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM), slapped prime minister Robinah Nabbanja after she intervened in the announcement of the results, underscoring the escalating intensity of political disputes within the NRM;
