1 Aug 2023 Victoria (Seychelles) Seychelles News Agency. National Assembly commences debates on recommendations made by the Truth, Reconciliation, and National Unity Commission (TRNUC) in its final report;

1 Aug 2023 Zanzibar (Tanzania) The Citizen. Zanzibar places 12 new oil and gas exploration blocks up for tender in the areas of eastern Unguja and Pemba;

1 Aug 2023 Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) All Africa. Tanzania Electric Supply Company Limited (TANESCO) 2021/2022 annual report indicates that the company delivered a record-setting performance with a profit after tax of TSh109 billion ($44.30m);

1 Aug 2023 Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) Pulse. United States (US) monetary policy tightening raises further concerns about the scarcity of US dollars in Tanzania, which is impacting imports such as machinery and cooking oil as local experts call on government to boost local output and tap into the nation’s gas reserves to reduce reliance on foreign fuel and mitigate the currency shortage;

1 Aug 2023 Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) The Independent. Private sector and politicians criticise the government’s decision to restrict food exports to Uganda and Kenya, stating that the move may hinder free trade, and others saying farmers in many areas are already stuck with huge stocks of food amidst price falls;

31 Jul 2023 Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) The CitizenTanzania Civil Aviation Authority (TCAA) announces that Tanzania and Russia have made improvements on current bilateral air services agreement to expand the air transport network and boost tourism and trade between the two nations;

30 Jul 2023 Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) The Citizen. The International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) orders the Tanzanian government to pay $109.5m to nickel mining firm Indiana Resources and other claimants as compensation for a breach of obligation;

30 Jul 2023 Kampala (Uganda) The Independent. Uganda is set to host the East Africa Business Council (EABC) Summit from 31 August to 1 September in Kampala;

27 Jul 2023 Zanzibar (Tanzania) The Citizen. Pennyroyal Ltd, the United Kingdom-based real estate investor and developers of the Blue Amber Resort in Zanzibar, files a claim against the Tanzanian government at the World Bank tribunal International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) alleging breaches of bilateral investment treaties Tanzania held with the UK and Mauritius;

26 Jul 2023 Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) The Citizen. Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) announces higher property tax rates which will be collected by the TRA until 31 December, whereafter they will be collected by the relevant local government authority (LGA);
