1 Jul 2025 Kinshasa (DRC) La Prosperite. National assembly president Vital Kamerhe praises President Félix Tshisekedi’s leadership in securing the peace agreement between the DRC and Rwanda under United States (US) auspices;

1 Jul 2025 Arusha (Tanzania) Burundi Times. East African Business Council and the African Development Bank sign a $1m grant agreement aimed at accelerating sustainable industrialisation and strengthening manufacturing value chains across East Africa;

1 Jul 2025 Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) The CitizenEnergy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority announces a slight drop in petrol prices in Dar es Salaam to TSh 2,877 ($1.24) per litre, down from TSH 2,885 ($1.24) in June;

1 Jul 2025 Kampala (Uganda) MonitorUnited States (US) embassy in Kampala warns it will begin denying visa applications from Ugandans intending to travel for childbirth to obtain US citizenship for their children, a practice known as birth tourism;

30 Jun 2025 Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) BorkenaNational Bank of Ethiopia (central bank) decides to maintain its key interest rate at 15% to continue its prudent policy stance aimed at curbing inflation, which remains high at 14.4%, though food inflation has significantly decreased to 12.1%;

30 Jun 2025 Nairobi (Kenya) Kenyans. President William Ruto calls for a global debt system reform at the International Conference on Financing for Development (FfD4), emphasising the need for responsible lending, debt transparency, and fairer credit assessments, while pushing for reforms in the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to give developing nations more say in decision making;

30 Jun 2025 Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) Club of MozambiqueInternational Monetary Fund (IMF) approves a disbursement of over $448m to Tanzania under its Extended Credit Facility and Resilience and Sustainability Facility, bringing total support to over $1.25 billion;

30 Jun 2025 Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) The Citizen. The Bank of Tanzania (central bank) indicates that Tanzania’s Treasury bond (T-bond) market is reshaping the country’s financial landscape by drawing significant capital away from private sector lending;

29 Jun 2025 Djibouti (Djibouti) BNA. Saudi Arabia’s foreign minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud meets with Djibouti’s foreign minister Abdulkadir Hussein Omar to discuss bilateral relations and ways to enhance cooperation;

29 Jun 2025 Asmara (Eritrea) Shabait. The annual Eritrean Community Festival in Italy takes place in Milan on 28 and 29 June, opened by Eritrea’s ambassador to Italy, Fesehatsion Petros, celebrating national identity and community solidarity;

29 Jun 2025 Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) Borkena. A World Bank study identifies Ethiopia as one of 39 countries where extreme poverty is worsening, with about 40% of the population living on less than $3 a day, a figure expected to rise by 2030;

28 Jun 2025 Kinshasa (DRC) BBC. United States (US) President Donald Trump hosts DRC’s foreign minister Thérèse Kayikwamba Wagner and her Rwandan counterpart Olivier Nduhungirehe following the signing of a peace agreement sign between the two nations at the US state department;

28 Jun 2025 Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) Borkena. Federal government deploys tens of thousands of troops to the Gojjam (Amhara Region) to weaken the ethnic militia forces, known as Fano;

28 Jun 2025 Nairobi (Kenya) Al Jazeera. Interior minister Kipchumba Murkomen is caught on video seemingly authorising police to shoot protesters after at least 16 people died during protests against police brutality;

28 Jun 2025 Kampala (Uganda) Monitor. Uganda’s coffee export prices plunge from USh 18,481 ($4.92) per kilogramme in April to its current USh 9,689 ($2.58), driven by global oversupply and weak demand;

27 Jun 2025 Gitega (Burundi) The East African. President Évariste Ndayishimiye inaugurates the 49.5 MW Jiji Hydroelectric Power Plant as part of efforts to boost electricity access and support economic growth;

26 Jun 2025 Kinshasa (DRC) La Prosperite. The United States (US), represented by ambassador Lucy Tamlyn, reaffirms its commitment to strengthening cooperation with the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) by supporting initiatives to improve the business climate and attract high-impact investments;

26 Jun 2025 Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) Borkena. An Austrian delegation, led by the vice finance minister and including Austrian ambassador Simone Knapp, meets with Ethiopia’s finance minister, Semereta Sewasew, to discuss enhancing economic and technical cooperation, focusing on modernising public finance and digitising government services;

26 Jun 2025 Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) The Citizen. Speaking at Mozambique’s 50th independence anniversary, President Samia Suluhu Hassan highlights a broader call for African nations to shift focus to sustainable economic development and strengthen regional trade;

26 Jun 2025 Kampala (Uganda) Monitor. The ruling National Resistance Movement is preparing to endorse President Yoweri Museveni as its sole presidential candidate for the upcoming election;

25 Jun 2025 Kigali (Rwanda) Bloomberg Law. United States (US)-headquartered Anzana Electric Group announces it will enter a partnership with Rwanda’s Ruzizi III Holding Power Company Limited (RHPCL) to develop the $760m Ruzizi III Regional Hydropower Project that will serve Burundi, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Rwanda;
