3 Jun 2025 Gitega (Burundi) Burundi Times. The East African Legislative Assembly resumes its sessions amid a significant funding crisis affecting the East African Community, including Burundi;

3 Jun 2025 Kigali (Rwanda) Algeria Press Service. President Paul Kagame meets with Algeria’s President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, emphasising Algeria and Rwanda’s shared commitment to resolving conflicts peacefully and rejecting foreign interference in African affairs;

3 Jun 2025 Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) The Citizen. Health minister Jenista Mhagama announces that Tanzania is working toward self-sufficiency by locally manufacturing antiretroviral medications to improve access and reduce dependency on imports;

3 Jun 2025 Kampala (Uganda) Monitor. Finance ministry says it is intensifying its borrowing efforts to address mounting fiscal pressures as the 2024/25 financial year concludes;

2 Jun 2025 Djibouti (Djibouti) All Africa. President Ismail Omar Guelleh meets with Somali prime minister Hamza Abdi Barre to strengthen political, economic, and security ties between the two nations, as Barre praises Djibouti’s pivotal role in Somalia’s state-building process

2 Jun 2025 Kinshasa (DRC) Reuters. United States-headquartered Human Rights Watch reports that Rwanda-backed M23 rebels allegedly executed at least 21 civilians in Goma (North Kivu Province) over two days in February;

2 Jun 2025 Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) The CitizenSwissport Tanzania PLC reports financial results, distributing TSh 2.5 billion ($1.06m) in profits to shareholders;

2 Jun 2025 Kampala (Uganda) Reuters. The Ugandan army reports that a suspected bomb explosion near the Munyonyo Martyrs’ Shrine in Kampala killed two people on Martyrs’ Day;

1 Jun 2025 Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) The Citizen. The private sector welcomes the government’s ambitious goal of reaching $2 billion in horticulture exports, viewing it as a major boost for economic growth and agricultural development;

29 May 2025 Gitega (Burundi) Burundi Times. President Évariste Ndayishimiye transfers leadership responsibilities to Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni concerning regional peace efforts with regards to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and the M23 rebel group;

29 May 2025 Goma (DRC) AP News. Former president Joseph Kabila, accused of supporting Rwanda-backed M23 rebels, meets with religious leaders in Goma (North Kivu Province) in his first public appearance since his immunity was lifted amid a treason investigation;

29 May 2025 Asmara (Eritrea) CPJ. Committee to Protect Journalists and other nongovernmental organisations (NGOs) urge the United Nations Human Rights Council to condemn Eritrea for serious human rights abuses, including arbitrary arrests, torture, and the detention of journalists without fair trials;

29 May 2025 Kigali (Rwanda) Bloomberg. The United States (US) is reportedly considering a plan to deport asylum seekers to Rwanda;

29 May 2025 Arusha (Tanzania) Burundi Times. The East African Community is facing increasing pressure to present a unified front in trade negotiations, both within the region and on broader continental platforms like the African Continental Free Trade Area and the Tripartite Free Trade Area;

29 May 2025 Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) The Citizen. Land, housing and human settlements development minister Deogratius Ndejembi announces that Tanzania is undertaking reforms to address land conflicts and improve settlement planning, aiming to enhance land governance and support sustainable development for the 2025/26 fiscal year;

29 May 2025 Kampala (Uganda) Monitor. The National Social Security Fund reports that approximately 81% of its total contributions originate from the Central Region, underscoring the region’s pivotal role in the country’s formal employment sector;

28 May 2025 Kigali (Rwanda) News 24. Twelve African countries, including Rwanda, condemn the M23 rebel group for establishing parallel administrations in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and called for the disarmament of all foreign armed groups in the region;
