8 Apr 2025 Kinshasa (DRC) Times Live. Presidency confirms that three United States (US) citizens who have been jailed over a failed coup attempt in 2024 have been handed over to US custody after high-level talks;

8 Apr 2025 Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) Addis Standard. Prime minister Abiy Ahmed appoints Lieutenant General Tadesse Werede as the new interim president of Tigray Region;

7 Apr 2025 Bujumbura (Burundi) Gov.uk. United Kingdom’s Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) releases a travel update for Burundi, advising against all travel to Rusizi National Park and continues to advise against all travel to Cibitoke and Bubanza provinces, parts of Kayanza Province, and parts of Bujumbura Rural Province;

7 Apr 2025 Kigali (Rwanda) News24. President Paul Kagame says that countries sanctioning Rwanda for its involvement in the conflict in Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) can “go to hell”;

7 Apr 2025 Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) The Citizen. President Samia Suluhu Hassan begins a three-day official visit to Angola;

6 Apr 2025 Kinshasa (DRC) Actualite. Heavy rains trigger flooding in Kinshasa, killing at least 30 people;

4 Apr 2025 Nairobi (Kenya) Reuters. Stanbic Bank Kenya Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) rises to 51.7 in March from 50.6 in February, indicating that private sector activity expanded at its fastest rate in 10 months;

4 Apr 2025 Kigali (Rwanda) IMF. International Monetary Fund (IMF) team concludes a visit to Rwanda to discuss policy priorities and progress on reforms within the context of the fifth review of Rwanda’s Policy Coordination Instrument (PCI);

3 Apr 2025 Kinshasa (DRC) Times Live. United States (US) senior advisor for Africa, Massad Boulos, says he and US President Donald Trump have agreed on a path forward for the development of the minerals agreement that the DRC presented to the US;

3 Apr 2025 Nairobi (Kenya) Nation. High Court rules that United States-headquartered Meta can be sued in Kenya over its alleged role in promoting content that led to ethnic violence in Ethiopia between 2020 and 2022, when its Ethiopia moderators were based in Kenya;

3 Apr 2025 Kigali (Rwanda) Anadolu Agency. Kigali hosts a two-day Global AI Summit attended by several heads of state, African Union (AU) representatives and other key ministers;

3 Apr 2025 Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) The Guardian. World Bank releases a report on its investigation into alleged human rights abuses against Tanzanian herders during a flagship tourism project it funded for seven years, identifying critical failures in the planning and supervision of the project that has resulted in serious harm;

3 Apr 2025 Kampala (Uganda) Reuters. President Yoweri Museveni arrives in South Sudan on a high-level mission amid political tensions in South Sudan;

3 Apr 2025 Washington DC (United States) BBC. United States (US) President Donald Trump announces reciprocal tariffs for dozens of African countries, including 30% on imports from South Africa, 50% from Lesotho, 47% from Madagascar, 37% from Botswana, 40% from Mauritius and 13% from Nigeria while the tariff on goods imported from Kenya, Ghana, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Uganda, Senegal and Liberia will be 10%;

2 Apr 2025 Djibouti (Djibouti) Garowe Online. President Ismail Omar Guelleh hosts his Somali counterpart, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, to discuss bilateral relations and regional issues;

2 Apr 2025 Nairobi (Kenya) Reuters. Kenya denies it has discussed debt restructuring with China’s finance minister, Lan Foan, after a social media post hinted that talks had taken place;
