9 Aug 2022 Nairobi (Kenya) The EastAfrican. Nairobi flags off its first ever consignment of fresh avocados to China, cementing its place as the continent’s leading exporter of the fruit and the sixth largest globally;

9 Aug 2022 Djibouti (Djibouti) Xinhua. Djibouti-headquartered Salaam African Bank acquires Top Finance Bank Limited in Uganda in an expansion move;

9 Aug 2022 Kinshasa (DRC) VoA. United States secretary of state Antony Blinken arrives in DRC to raise concerns that tensions with neighbouring Rwanda could spread instability in the region;

9 Aug 2022 Nairobi (Kenya) Daily Nation. William Ruto takes an early lead in the general election, as polling stations close with no reports of electoral violence, despite some irregularities in the early voting hours;

8 Aug 2022 Kigali (Rwanda) CNBC. Rwanda dismisses allegations contained in a report by the United Nations Group of Experts that its army supported the M23 rebels in attacking the DRC;

7 Aug 2022 Nairobi (Kenya) Daily Nation. Presidential election candidates make their final push for votes ahead of the 9 August election;

6 Aug 2022 (East Africa) The EastAfrican. Shippers Council of East Africa survey finds transporters using the Northern Corridor have been bearing some of the highest costs in the world, reflecting how a shortage of routes is impeding the competitiveness of the East African region to trade;

6 Aug 2022 Kampala (Uganda) The EastAfrican. President Yoweri Museveni looks to gain from the United States and Russia jostling each other for influence in the region, with both countries sending top envoys to Kampala within eight days of each other;

5 Aug 2022 Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) Zawya. State utility Tanzania Electric Supply Company signs a deal with UAE-headquartered Masdar, one of the world’s leading renewable energy companies, for the development of renewable energy projects with a total capacity of up to 2 gigawatts;

4 Aug 2022 Goma (DRC) AFP. United Nations experts say they have uncovered “hard” evidence that the Rwandan army has intervened in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) in recent months, both directly and in support of armed groups;

4 Aug 2022 Khartoum (Sudan) Sudan Tribune. Sudanese authorities prevent a delegation of political and traditional leaders from crossing into neighbouring Eritrea to discuss tribal problems that affected the security situation in the eastern Sudan region;

3 Aug 2022 Djibouti (Djibouti) Zawya. Trade minister Nevine Gamea says trade exchange between Djibouti and Egypt grew by 15.7% year-on-year in 2021.
