6 Jun 2023 Victoria (Seychelles) Seychelles News Agency. Education minister Justin Valentin and Colombo International Nautical Engineering College (CINEC) campus president Ajith Peiris sign a renewed memorandum of agreement to further improve safety, efficiency and competency in the maritime and fisheries sectors;

6 Jun 2023 Victoria (Seychelles) Seychelles News Agency. Vice president Ahmed Afif announces that the moratorium on the sale of land in Seychelles to non-Seychellois for residential purposes will remain in place;

6 Jun 2023 Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) The CitizenTanzania Coffee Board managing director Primus Kimaryo reports that Tanzania’s coffee exports have earned a record $231m (about TSh440.5 billion) in sales, with a total of 81,498 tonnes of beans exported during the 2022/23 season;

5 Jun 2023 Victoria (Seychelles) Seychelles News Agency. Environment minister Flavien Joubert says his ministry continues to explore new ways to address the issue of plastic waste through new restrictions to be imposed on the use, possession and commercial distribution of plastics and plastic products still in circulation;

The government establishes procedures and regulations to ensure transparency, traceability and compliance in agricultural trading activities to protect farmers against fraud, conning and inconveniences while enabling the country to gather accurate data on crop trading;

3 Jun 2023 Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) The Citizen. Tanzania’s first Boeing 767 freighter 767-300F, which cost $37m to manufacture, lands at Julius Nyerere International Airport in Dar es Salaam, and is expected to boost cargo freight within East Africa;

1 Jun 2023 Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) BorkenaAddis Ababa Electric Service Bureau CEO Gebeyehu Dissassa says the utility has taken measures against 109 employees and the leadership, based on grievances coming from the public and inspections conducted by the institution on issues related to the provision of electric services;

1 Jun 2023 Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) The CitizenBank of Tanzania (central bank) governor Emmanuel Tutuba issues new directives aimed at controlling foreign exchange trading in the country as several African countries, including Kenya, struggle with a shortage of United States dollars;

31 May 2023 Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) The Citizen. Strategic advisory firm Dalberg Advisors partner Devang Vussonji says the private sector should capitalise on a range of under-explored climate opportunities in Tanzania;
