9 Jun 2026 Kigali (Rwanda) Kigali Today. A high-level delegation from Somalia’s internal security ministry and the Somali National University visita Rwanda to study unity and reconciliation pathways, and establish an educational partnership with the Center for Conflict Management at the University of Rwanda to develop peace studies and strengthen post-conflict state-building;

9 Jun 2026 Gitega (Burundi) Breaking Burundi. National Patriotism Day exposes sharp political rifts, with opposition parties and civil society groups accusing the ruling Conseil National Pour la Défense de la Démocratie–Forces Pour la Défense de la Démocratie (CNDD–FDD) of equating patriotism with partisan loyalty amid widespread corruption;

9 Jun 2026 Kinshasa (DRC) La Prosperite. Prime minister Judith Suminwa Tuluka meets with United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Burundi representative Brigitte Mukanga to discuss the voluntary repatriation of over 100,000 Congolese refugees;

9 Jun 2026 Kinshasa (DRC) Monitor. The United States (US) urges Europe to implement Ebola-related travel bans ahead of the upcoming FIFA World Cup, though the European Union (EU) has not yet responded to the request;

9 Jun 2026 Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) Borkena. The federal government has allegedly launched two drone strikes against Tigray Defense Force (TDF) positions within three days, with the most recent attack occurring in the Shererina locality;

9 Jun 2026 Nairobi (Kenya) Business Daily. Central Bank of Kenya leaves its benchmark lending rate unchanged at 8.75% for a second consecutive meeting, citing uncertainty caused by the Iran conflict and the risk that higher global oil prices could fuel inflation and undermine Kenya’s economic recovery;

9 Jun 2026 Antananarivo (Madagascar) L’Express. Madagascar is on the verge of signing a hydrocarbon supply agreement with Nigeria to diversify its fuel sources and mitigate disruptions caused by the Middle East conflict;

9 Jun 2026 Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) The Citizen. President Samia Suluhu Hassan hosts Singapore’s President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, signing a series of agreements aimed at deepening economic ties, boosting trade and driving investment growth;

8 Jun 2026 Cairo (Egypt) Daily News Egypt. President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and Eritrean President Isaias Afwerki meet in Cairo to discuss bilateral cooperation, regional developments in the Horn of Africa, the conflict in Sudan and Red Sea security;

8 Jun 2026 Kigali (Rwanda) Le Monde. Former physician Eugène Rwamucyo, who was previously sentenced to 27 years in prison for complicity in the 1994 Rwandan genocide, return to a France criminal court for an appeal trial that will begin on 9 June;

8 Jun 2026 Antananarivo (Madagascar) L’Express. Following his political working visit to Gabon, transitional president Michaël Randrianirina arrives in Nigeria for an official visit with President Bola Tinubu;

8 Jun 2026 Kigali (Rwanda) IMF. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) executive board approves a 38-month Extended Credit Facility (ECF) arrangement for Rwanda worth approximately $250m, authorising an immediate disbursement of $35.7m;

8 Jun 2026 Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) The Citizen. Foreign affairs ministry’s director of economic diplomacy, John Ulanga, says Tanzania is targeting a $2 billion boost in Russian investment following a recent official visit by President Samia Suluhu Hassan;

6 Jun 2026 Kinshasa (DRC) La Prosperite. The DRC, Burundi and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) finalise an operational roadmap to facilitate the dignified, voluntary repatriation and sustainable reintegration of refugees between the two neighbouring countries;

6 Jun 2026 Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) Borkena. The prime minister’s office frames the recent killing of Orthodox Christians in Arsi (Oromia Region) as an election-disruption tactic by rebels and foreign powers;

6 Jun 2026 Antananarivo (Madagascar) L’Express. Madagascar and France sign two agreements to strengthen their defence partnership through joint training, maritime security cooperation and the development of an intelligence drone programme to combat rural banditry;

Despite protests, court orders and opposition leaders and civil society’s heavy criticism regarding secrecy and a power imbalance, United States (US) experts arrive at a US-backed Ebola facility in Kenya, while lawmakers face pressure to reconsider the agreement;

4 Jun 2026 Djibouti (Djibouti) Gulf News. Saudi Arabia’s ports authority launches a new shipping service linking Jeddah Islamic Port (Saudi Arabia) with Mundra Port (India) and the Port of Djibouti, improving trade flows across the Red Sea;
