7 Sep 2025 Kinshasa (DRC) All Africa. The World Health Organisation (WHO) delivers 12 tonnes of emergency medical supplies, including personal protective equipment, isolation kits and water and sanitation materials, to support the DRC in responding to its 16th Ebola outbreak in Kasai Province;

6 Sep 2025 Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) Garowe Online. Prime minister Abiy Ahmed declares Ethiopia’s landlocked status an “existential issue,” vowing to “correct” what he termed a historical mistake by reclaiming access to the Red Sea;

6 Sep 2025 Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) Borkena. The Ethiopian Defense Force inaugurates a new navy headquarters in Addis Ababa and a naval training center in Debre Zeit, marking the revival of Ethiopia’s navy after more than three decades;

6 Sep 2025 Kinshasa (DRC) X. United Nations (UN) Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights says M23 rebels, Congolese armed forces and other armed groups have committed serious rights violations in eastern DRC;

4 Sep 2025 Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) BorkenaNational Bank of Ethiopia (central bank) governor Mamo Mihretu resigns after more than a year overseeing major macroeconomic reforms, including the introduction of a market-based exchange rate;

4 Sep 2025 Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) The CitizenBank of Tanzania (central bank) highlights that Tanzania’s charcoal trade is expanding despite government and international efforts to promote clean energy, driven by rapid population increase and the high cost of alternatives such as gas and electricity;
