10 May 2022 Nairobi (Kenya) US News. Kenyan former Facebook content moderator Daniel Motaungfiles a lawsuit against Facebook’s United States-based parent company Meta in Nairobi over poor working conditions, including irregular pay and insufficient mental health support for contracted content moderators;

10 May 2022 Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) The Citizen. Energy minister January Makamba announces a TSh100 billion ($43m) fuel subsidy aiming to spare motorists and households high pump prices;

10 May 2022 Kampala (Uganda) Bloomberg. Energy minister Okasai Sidronius Opolot says Uganda has acquired land for the construction of East Africa’s first nuclear power plant as the continent’s top exporter of coffee beans attempts to expand its electricity generation capacity multi-fold;

9 May 2022 Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) Reuters. State-owned operator Ethio Telecom launches a 5G mobile phone service in a key step ahead of competition from new entrants in an industry that has been closed for international players;

9 May 2022 Nairobi (Kenya) Business Daily. Petroleum principal secretary Andrew Kamau says Kenya has moved to avert a diplomatic spat with Uganda over a decision to localise fuel cargo meant for Kampala;

9 May 2022 Nairobi (Kenya) The East AfricanKenya National Bureau of Statistics data show the economy grew by 7.5% in 2021, partly due to imports from Tanzania doubling over the past 10 months;
