11 Feb 2026 Djibouti (Djibouti) Dawan Africa. Djibouti’s coast guard seizes five illegal fishing boats and arrests 19 people during a two-day operation in the Goubet and Guéhéré areas, uncovering prohibited underwater hunting rifles on the vessels;

10 Feb 2026 Djibouti (Djibouti) Dawan Africa. Djibouti’s top business leaders are exploring stakes in Ethiopia’s Shabeelle Bank following Ethiopia’s lifting of its 50-year ban on foreign bank ownership, allowing up to 49% foreign stakes;

10 Feb 2026 Nairobi (Kenya) Reuters. Central Bank of Kenya cuts its benchmark lending rate for the 10th consecutive time to 8.75% from 9% to stimulate private sector lending and support economic growth, despite calls from the bankers’ association to hold the rate;

10 Feb 2026 Kigali (Rwanda) The EastAfrican. Over 160 Rwandan refugees are repatriated from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) under a tripartite agreement between United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Rwanda and Congolese authorities;

10 Feb 2026 Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) The Citizen. Tanzania launches one of Africa’s largest compressed natural gas (CNG) hubs as part of its push to accelerate the country’s green energy transition and reduce reliance on more polluting fuels;

10 Feb 2026 Kampala (Uganda) Reuters. Information minister Chris Baryomunsi condemns a military raid on opposition leader Bobi Wine’s home, saying Wine committed no crime and that any assault or property damage by security forces was unacceptable and would be investigated;

9 Feb 2026 Nairobi (Kenya) Daily NationUnited States (US)-based Google rejects 61% of Kenya’s government requests to censor online content, highlighting increased attempts by authorities to restrict digital information as internet access and affordability expand;

9 Feb 2026 Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) The Citizen. Deputy industry and trade minister, Denis Londo, launches an $8.8m apparel manufacturing plant in Dar es Salaam by global safety wear firm Portwest, supporting the government’s push to become a regional hub for industrial textiles and PPE;

9 Feb 2026 Kampala (Uganda) MonitorUganda Electricity Transmission Company Ltd (UETCL) is accelerating plans for a 400kV power interconnection with Tanzania, backed by a proposed Ush 937 billion ($262m) investment, to expand cross-border electricity trade and improve grid stability;

8 Feb 2026 Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) Reuters. Ethiopia accuses Eritrea of military aggression and supporting armed groups inside its territory, calling for the immediate withdrawal of Eritrean forces and an end to cooperation with militants;

6 Feb 2026 Kinshasa (DRC) Reuters. Clashes between the army and M23 rebels intensify in remote highlands of South Kivu Province, stretching hospital capacity and complicating United States-led peace and investment efforts;

5 Feb 2026 Kampala (Uganda) MonitorKenya Power is seeking a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) to secure 100 MW of hydropower from Uganda, strengthening regional energy cooperation and supply reliability, with Kenya’s importation of 254.7 GWh of electricity from Uganda in the 11 months to November making it a key market for Uganda’s surplus power;
