10 Jun 2025 Kigali (Rwanda) Reuters. United States is reportedly pushing for a peace deal between Rwanda and Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) that would require to Rwanda to withdraw all soldiers from eastern DRC:

10 Jun 2025 Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) Borkena. Finance Minister Ahmed Shide proposes a 1.2 trillion birr ($20.8 billion) regular budget for the 2025/2026 fiscal year, with key allocations including 450 billion birr ($7.8 billion) for capital expenses, 315 billion birr ($5.5 billion) for regional transfers, and 14 billion birr ($243m) to support sustainable development goals;

10 Jun 2025 Nairobi (Kenya) RFI. Kenyan activist and blogger Albert Ojwang dies in police custody shortly after being arrested for allegedly criticising the police on social media, sparking public outrage and street protests;

10 Jun 2025 Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) The Citizen. President Samia Suluhu Hassan announces that recent gains in Tanzania’s port sector have led the World Bank to reverse earlier pessimistic projections about the country’s economy;

10 Jun 2025 Kampala (Uganda) MonitorCivil Society Budget Advocacy Group (CSBAG) executive director Julius Mukunda voices concerns over Uganda’s increasing reliance on both external and domestic borrowing to fund its national budget;

9 Jun 2025 Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) Borkena. State minister for government communication Tesfahun Gobezay emphasises that private media needs to “play their part” in promoting government achievemnets to the public as the government increases pressure on private media outlets to align their content with state narratives;

9 Jun 2025 Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) The CitizenWorld Bank provides Tanzania with $300m in funding to enhance its disaster preparedness capabilities;

9 Jun 2025 Kinshasa (DRC) La Prosperite. Opposition party Conservateurs de la Nature et Démocrates president Moïse Moni Della calls for the replacement of the ruling Sacred Union of the Nation with a new political coalition, the Camp of the Nation, to rally support around President Félix Tshisekedi amid growing unrest in eastern DRC;

8 Jun 2025 Kigali (Rwanda) Africa News. Rwanda withdraws from the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS), accusing the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) of manipulating the organisation to serve its own interests;

8 Jun 2025 Nairobi (Kenya) Daily NationKenya Ports Authority reports that Lamu Port has recorded a robust performance in 2025, handling 34 container vessels by June, more than the total number of vessels handled in 2024;

8 Jun 2025 Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) The Citizen. Opposition party Chadema’s “No Reform, No Elections” campaign gains significant traction on social media, with activists and citizens demanding comprehensive political and electoral reforms before the October general elections;

7 Jun 2025 Kinshasa (DRC) La Prosperite. United Nations (UN) member states elects five countries, including DRC, to serve as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC);

6 Jun 2025 Gitega (Burundi) Burundi Times. Burundi’s 5 June legislative elections feature over 6 million registered voters casting ballots across 14,156 polling stations—including 53 abroad and in peacekeeping areas—signaling high official turnout and civic enthusiasm;

6 Jun 2025 Djibouti (Djibouti) African UnionAfrican Union (AU) Commission holds a meeting in Djibouti to conduct the mid-term evaluation of the “AU Master Roadmap to Silence the Guns in Africa by 2030”;

5 Jun 2025 Kinshasa (DRC) La Prosperite. Opposition party Engagement pour la Citoyenneté et le Développement leader Martin Fayulu declares that there is no military solution to the crisis in eastern DRC and insists on inclusive national dialogue as the only viable path to peace;

5 Jun 2025 Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) Borkena. Peace minister Mohammed Endris reports that the federal government has regained control over nearly all districts in the conflict-hit Amhara Region, with only two out of 265 still not fully under its authority;

5 Jun 2025 Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) The CitizenEnergy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority reports that fuel prices in Tanzania have risen for the third time in a row, with petrol reaching TSh 2,861 ($1.23) and diesel TSh 2,692 ($1.16) per litre, continuing a trend that is putting pressure on consumers;

5 Jun 2025 Kigali (Rwanda) BBC. Rwanda confirms it is in early discussions with the United States (US) to accept migrants deported from the US, continuing a pattern after a similar, now-abandoned, agreement with the United Kingdom;

5 Jun 2025 Washing DC (United States) Burundi Times. United States (US) President Donald Trump signs a new presidential proclamation imposing expanded travel restrictions affecting multiple countries, including Burundi and Eritrea, effective 9 June;
