13 Nov 2024 Bujumbura (Burundi) Africanews. International NGO Save The Children reports that as of 3 November, mpox cases among children have risen to 1,100;

13 Nov 2024 Nairobi (Kenya) Pune News. The World Food Programme (WFP) announces it requires $138m in net funding to provide humanitarian aid to one million food insecure Kenyans in the next six months;

13 Nov 2024 Nairobi (Kenya) Business Insider Africa. Kenya says it is optimistic that plans for a Strategic Trade and Investment Partnership (STIP) that were originally discussed with United States (US) president-elect Donald Trump in 2020 will continue following his victory in the recent election;

13 Nov 2024 Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) The Citizen. Public-Private Partnership Centre (PPPC) announces that Tanzania is mobilising TSh 25 trillion ($9 billion) in private capital to fund mega projects under which there are currently 84 projects being implemented including major infrastructure projects and hydropower;

13 Nov 2024 Kampala (Uganda) Polity. Finance ministry announces its intention to cut 98% of external borrowing in the financial year ending June 2026 due to its increasing public debt which is currently stands at $25.6 billion;

10 Nov 2024 Djibouti (Djibouti) Egypt Today. Foreign affairs minister Mahmour Ali Youssef meets with his Egyptian counterpart, Badr Abdel Aty, to discuss cooperation and coordination within the African Union (AU) and the Arab League;

10 Nov 2024 Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) VOA. A senior Somali official insists again that Ethiopia will not participate in a new African Union (AU) peacekeeping mission for Somalia starting January;

9 Nov 2024 Kinshasa (DRC) News Central Africa. United States (US) expresses concern over violations of the ceasefire agreement in eastern DRC;

9 Nov 2024 Kinshasa (DRC) Africanews. Political and civil society leaders announce an alliance to rally against President Felix Tshisekedi’s plans to review the constitution;

9 Nov 2024 Kigali (Rwanda) AFP. Rwanda says it is relying on Russia training its citizens to become specialists in nuclear energy, which Rwanda is seeking to use to boost energy supply;

8 Nov 2024 Nairobi (Kenya) News Central AfricaHigh Court of Kenya Judge Lawrence Mugambi rules that genetically modified (GMO) crops will be allowed to be cultivated and imported, amid strong opposition from stakeholders who claim this will damage traditional farming practices in the region;

8 Nov 2024 Nairobi (Kenya) Crypto News FlashKenya Revenue Authority (KRA) reports that the real time tax monitoring system it implemented in an attempt to decrease tax evasion and fraud, has resulted in $77m in tax from crypto trading in the 2023-2024 fiscal year;

7 Nov 2024 Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) Shega. Construction of a 20MW Bitcoin mining facility has broken ground at Wolaita as the Hong Kong-headquartered West Data Group invests an estimated $15m into the facility, expected to house 6,000 dedicated Bitcoin mining machines;

7 Nov 2024 Kigali (Rwanda) Anadolu Agency. Rwanda delivers a shipment of humanitarian supplies to Gaza;

7 Nov 2024 Kigali (Rwanda) Reuters. National Bank of Rwanda (central bank) governor John Rwangombwa says Rwanda’s monetary policy in 2025 can remain accommodative as inflation is expected to remain under 5%;

6 Nov 2024 Djibouti (Djibouti) Asharq al-Awsat. Djibouti awards Saudi Arabia its highest honour – the National Independence Order of June 27th, Commander Rank – for its development support made available via the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD);

6 Nov 2024 Nairobi (Kenya) Reuters. David Ndii, chairman of President William Ruto’s Council of Economic Advisors, says Kenya’s economy is on the mend and the country is unlikely to need further assistance from the International Monetary Fund (IMF);

6 Nov 2024 Kigali (Rwanda) News24. Rwanda closes its embassy in Maputo (Mozambique) ahead of planned opposition protests;
