14 Mar 2023 Bujumbura (Burundi) Africanews. A group of human rights NGOs urges the Burundian authorities to release five human rights defenders arrested on charges of rebellion and undermining state security immediately and to stop intimidating civil society;

14 Mar 2023 Kinshasa (DRC) La Prosperite. Inspection générale des finances (IGF) (general inspectorate of finance) head Jules Alingete recommends a change of leadership in provincial finances at provincial government level;

14 Mar 2023 Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) Borkena. Addis Ababa mayor Adanech Abiebie claims large-scale human migration into Addis Ababa from regional states aims to “overthrow the government by force and take control of the power” and has become a threat to the security;

14 Mar 2023 Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) The Citizen. Latest data released by the Tanzania Investment Centre (TIC) shows that in February, a total of 41 projects were registered across the country, representing a 128% increase compared to 18 projects registered in February 2022;

13 Mar 2023 Kinshasa (DRC) La Prosperite. Commission Electorale Nationale Indépendante (CENI) president Denis Kadima Kazadi meets with a delegation from Germany-based Interparliamentary Friendship Group for Central Africa, led by its president, Jürgen Cobe, who are interested in technically supporting the electoral process in the DRC;

13 Mar 2023 Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) Borkena. Prime minister Abiy Ahmed visits South Sudan and meets with President Salva Kir and opposition leader Riek Machar;

12 Mar 2023 Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) The CitizenTanzanian health authorities say they are on high alert after the discovery of a malaria parasite-transmitting mosquito, Anopheles stephensi mosquito, originating from South Asia and the Middle East, in northern Kenya’s sub-counties of Laisamis and Saku;

9 Mar 2023 Nairobi (Kenya) Daily NationIresteno settlement residents on the border of Mandera and Wajir counties call on the national government to settle them in either of the devolved units;

9 Mar 2023 Nairobi (Kenya) Daily NationAfrican Centre for Corrective and Preventive Action (ACCPA) sues tech giant Google over alleged privacy violations by illegally tracking Android users and collecting personal information, accusing the internet search company of breaching Kenya’s data protection laws by illegally invading users’ privacy and collecting their biometric information;

8 Mar 2023 Kinshasa (DRC) La Prosperite. National Assembly member Patrick Muyaya Katembwe reaffirms the government’s determination to provide the Commission Électorale Nationale Indépendante (national electoral commission) with the means to enable it to call elections in December, in accordance with the constitutional deadline;
