14 Apr 2026 Kinshasa (DRC) Reuters. The DRC is scheduled to receive its first group of approximately 37 to 45 third-country deportees from the United States this week under a newly established agreement;

14 Apr 2026 Nairobi (Kenya) Daily NationEnergy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) announces a sharp spike in fuel prices, with diesel jumping by Sh40.30 ($0.31) and super petrol by Sh28.69 ($0.22) per litre effective 15 April;

13 Apr 2026 Kampala (Uganda) MonitorBank of Uganda (central bank) reports electricity exports surged 34% to Shs267 billion ($72.5m) between March 2025 and February 2026, bolstered by the completion of the 600MW Karuma Hydropower dam which brought total installed capacity to 2,048MW;

12 Apr 2026 Nairobi (Kenya) Daily NationSwiss multinational Oryx Energies challenges the Kenyan government’s decision to reject a second 96,000-tonne consignment of super petrol, following an ongoing investigation into a multi-billion shilling “dirty fuel” scandal;

11 Apr 2026 Djibouti (Djibouti) SABC News. President Ismaïl Omar Guelleh secures a sixth term as Djibouti’s leader with 97.8% of the vote and an 80.4% turnout;

10 Apr 2026 Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) Borkena. Prime minister Abiy Ahmed emphasises that Ethiopia’s strategic need is to regain access to Eritrea‘s Assab Port to reduce its heavy economic reliance on Djibouti and enhance its trade resilience within the Red Sea region;

9 Apr 2026 Nairobi (Kenya) The Star. President William Ruto orders the interior ministry to implement sweeping security reforms in Nairobi within 60 days, focusing on upgrading surveillance systems and incorporating artificial intelligence for faster police response times;

9 Apr 2026 Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) AP News. President Samia Suluhu Hassan orders a reduction in the size of her presidential motorcades and mandated that accompanying officials use shared buses to curb government fuel consumption;
