The Eastern Africa Association, with FTI Consulting, convenes our annual East Africa Prospects 2026 briefing on Friday, 23 January, 12:00–14:00 in London.
Concept
Every January, we host a high-level, peer-to-peer briefing that serves as the official opening of our strategic calendar. This is an opportunity for us to reconnect with our key members post-holidays and, more importantly, to collaboratively establish the Eastern Africa business thesis for the year ahead. This 90-minute briefing allows us to move beyond headlines to dissect the critical policy stability and macroeconomic factors that will directly impact investment flows and operational security across the region.
While we remain confident in the region’s trajectory for strong GDP growth, we must confront the realities of intensifying political uncertainty (including major election cycles) and persistent debt pressures.
The Horn of Africa remains a flurry of unpredictable developments; we closed the year with major geopolitical shifts, including the recent controversy surrounding the recognition of Somaliland and the subsequent African Union response. Globally, key policy changes, such as shifting US visa restrictions, the UK Africa Approach, and the continued global debate around trade protectionism, create volatility that directly affects our planning.
The comprehensive, on-the-ground insights shared at this intimate gathering are consistently invaluable for setting the agenda for our members and our partners across regional governments.
