19 Jul 2022 Nairobi (Kenya) Business Daily Africa. Botswana-based real estate firm Letlole La Rona Limited completes the purchase of a 30% stake in Kenya-based Orbit Products Africa’s manufacturing facilities at an initial cost of $7.23m;

19 Jul 2022 Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) IMF. International Monetary Fund approves a $1.04 billion, 40-month Extended Credit Facility loan arrangement for Tanzania, with an immediate disbursement of about $151.7m;

18 Jul 2022 Nairobi (Kenya) The Star. IMF approves loan of $235.6m to Kenya following the completion of the third review of the country’s Extended Credit Facility and Extended Fund Facility;

16 Jul 2022 Nairobi (Kenya) The East African. President Uhuru Kenyatta once again steps out to the front line to try to swing the 9 August vote in favour of his preferred successor, Raila Odinga;

16 Jul 2022 Kigali (Rwanda) The East African. President Paul Kagame comments that he intends to rule Rwanda for the next 20 years, igniting a debate about his intentions to run for a fourth term in 2024;

14 Jul 2022 Washington (United States) Reuters. IMF calls on creditor committees for Chad, Ethiopia and Zambia to quickly reach agreements with authorities to restructure the countries’ debts, saying this could unlock IMF financing programmes and disbursements for them;

14 Jul 2022 Nairobi (Kenya) Daily Nation. Kenya and United States launch strategic trade and investment partnership to pursue commitments to boost economic growth, support African regional economic integration and deepen trade cooperation;

13 Jul 2022 Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) Borkena. Police arrest National Disaster Risk Management Commission head Mitiku Kassa amid allegations of corruption;

13 Jul 2022 Bujumbura (Burundi) Arc-en-Ciel. President Evariste Ndayishimiye meets with visiting Chinese government special representative Xu Jinghu at the presidential palace in Bujumbura.
