30 Apr 2025 Nairobi (Kenya) Bloomberg. Kenya’s annual inflation rate climbed to an eight-month high in April on tight supply of food items including corn, potatoes and green vegetables;

29 Apr 2025 Kinshasa (DRC) Daily Maverick. South African, Tanzanian and Malawian troops began withdrawing from their bases in eastern DRC after being trapped for three months, with hope of a complete withdrawal by the end of June;

29 Apr 2025 Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) The Citizen. Australia-based company Perseus Mining Limited has confirmed a final investment decision (FID) to proceed with the development of the Nyanzaga Gold Project (NGP) in Tanzania, committing approximately $523m to bring the project into production;

29 Apr 2025 Kampala (Uganda) Reuters. President Yoweri Museveni reports that he had a “productive meeting” with representatives of United States-based satellite internet constellation Starlink, which is looking to establish a presence in the country;

28 Apr 2025 Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) Reuters. Finance minister Eyob Tekalign says he expects to reach a preliminary agreement on the third review of Ethiopia’s $3.4 billion loan programme with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) early this week and to start formal debt talks with bondholders in the summer;

28 Apr 2025 Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) Bloomberg. Ethiopia reports it raised 3.2 billion birr ($24m) after selling 10% of the shares on offer in its maiden initial public offering that was open for more than four months;

26 Apr 2025 Kampala (Uganda) Reuters. Uganda declares an end to the country’s latest outbreak of Ebola, three months after authorities confirmed cases of the highly infectious and often fatal viral haemorrhagic infection in Kampala;

25 Apr 2025 Nairobi (Kenya) Bloomberg. MojaEV Kenya, a Nairobi-based electric vehicle distributor that imports fully built Chinese units, will begin local assembly from August with a plan to export to several African markets;

25 Apr 2025 Kinshasa (DRC) Business Day. DRC and Rwanda will reportedly sign an agreement in the United States (US) today to promote peace and economic development;

24 Apr 2025 Kinshasa (DRC) Al Jazeera. DRC and M23 rebels agree on a ceasefire and agree to move towards a broader peace deal;

24 Apr 2025 Nairobi (Kenya) Reuters. Following a meeting between President William Ruto and China’s President Xi Jinping, the two agree to elevate ties to a new level and sign 20 new agreements;

24 Apr 2025 Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) The East African. Police detain two senior opposition party Chadema figures who were on their way to the court hearing for Chadema’s leader, Tundu Lissu, who is facing charges of treason;

23 Apr 2025 Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) Moneyweb. International Monetary Fund (IMF) forecasts that Kenya’s economy will surpass Ethiopia’s to become East Africa’s largest this year with a GDP of $132 billion versus Ethiopia’s $117 billion after the devaluation of the birr;
